Right click on "My Computer" and click on Properties, then click on the Computer name tab (or Network Name tab in Windows 2000). Click on the Edit button. Change the workgroup name to be the same on all computers. Click the OK button to save the settings. Click the OK button in the System properties window and restart the computer.

Place a check on "Share this folder" and give the folder a nice, short, easy-to-remember and descriptive share name like "PC1-Drive-C". If the customer wants access to change files within this folder place a check in "Allow users to changes files within this folder". Have the customer click Apply. Go to the remote computer. Open up an Internet Explorer window and in the address bar type in "\\remote_computer_name\" and push enter on the keyboard. Double click on the folder and the user should be able to access the files and folders on the remote computer.

Place a check on "Share this printer" and give the printer a nice, short, easy-to-remember and descriptive share name like "HP1234" where "1234" is the printer model number. Go to the remote computer. Open up an Internet Explorer window and in the address bar type in "\\remote_computer_name\" and push enter on the keyboard. Double click on printers and faxs and then double click on the printer icon. This will prompt the user to install the printer. Click Yes to continue. Once the printer spool window opens have the customer close it and open up a document and attempt to print it.
You start by ensuring all computers are in the same workgroup. Easier way to check: hold the Windows key and Pause/break.
